Unlike other courses that are available our courses are designed to equip you with a ‘hands on’ approach where you will not only be shown techniques but give you the time to fully master them yourself!

This course is ideal for those of you wishing to become professional make-up artists.

 

Our 10 day practical course is designed to provide you with not only an in-depth knowledge of make up application but how to work successfully within the industry. By the end of the course you will be proficient and confident enough to work for all types of clients, whether they be Commercial, Advertising, Editorial, Beauty or Creative; giving you the edge on your competitors.

 

You will be taught using only the best professional brands by leading professionals who still work within the industry, because of this you will gain a wealth of insider’s tips not only on the application of make up but how to go about applying for work or furthering your career.

 

The course numbers are restricted to small groups so we can engage with our students, ensuring that you get one to one tuition and time to practice and develop your skills.

 

As part of the course we provide you with a studio shoot experience. The school facilitates you with a professional photographer, stylist and agency model. From this you will get both a Beauty and Fashion image to start your portfolio.

 

At the end of this course you will receive a complimentary brush set, a copy of the Beauty Secrets ‘Ultimate Make Up Guide’ and the option to extend your course into 12 day's, to include the discounted Pro Bridal Make Up Certificate course.

 

Unlike our other courses, this 10 day course includes our ‘After Care Programme', this includes the opportunity to join the Beauty Secrets Pro Artist Team where you can gain further experience working as part of our team at events such as London Fashion Week. You will also benefit from a further 35% discount on all subsequent courses and master-classes.

 

 

Content:

 

• Hygiene – Understanding how to care for your kit and products.

 

• Skin care and Preparation – A step by step guide to Skincare and Products.  You will learn how to analyse different skin types in order to gain an understanding of the importance in choosing the correct products to compliment your final look whether it be Bridal, Editorial or Advertising.

 

• Flawless Foundation – Master the art of creating the perfect base, looking specifically at coverage, application/techniques, textures, finishes, colour and durability.

 

• Contouring & Corrective Techniques – Learn how to sculpt and enhance the natural features of the face, through the art of contouring and highlighting. You will also learn how to correct imperfections on the face such as dark circles and blemishes.

 

• Radiant Skin - How to achieve beautifully glowing and dewy looks.

 

• Powders and Creams – An in-depth look at products and textures and the looks they can create.

 

• Eye Brow Shaping – Learn how to master the art of sculpting the perfect brow from natural to editorial. 

 

• Eye shadow Application – A detailed look in to the application of eye shadow shapes and colours, using both cream and powder products.

 

• Natural Make up – Study the art of creating the perfect ‘Natural’ Look.

 

• Male Grooming – Learn the art of creating a subtle, fresh but groomed look that meets industry standards.

 

• Liners – This section teaches how to apply the perfect pencil or liquid eye line, you will also be taught how to create Avant Garde liner looks straight from the runway. 

 

• False Lash App – You will be taught how to size and fit both individual and strip lashes and also create and customise your own lashes.

 

• Lip Precision – Master the application of the perfect lip, through the use of lip liners, lipsticks, and gloss.

 

• Hair Session Styling – An insight basic hair styling to accompany this season’s trends.

 

• Catwalk – Learn how to master this season’s catwalk looks. This section is delivered as if you are working as part of a back-stage team. You will be taught how to replicate a look exactly to brief within a very short period of time. This section will also give you an understanding of back-stage etiquette, assisting and back-stage products. 

 

• Fashion/Editorial – This section will teach you how to work successfully on a fashion shoot for print, you will be taught how to create exciting, innovative make up designs that take into consideration all the components of a shoot such as styling, location and the model.  You will also learn how to execute the looks in order to assist the photographer and eliminate the need for unnecessary re-touching.

 

• Commercial/Advertising – It is important to understand your brand and brief, therefore you will be taught what is expected of your skills when undertaking this type of work.

 

• Red Carpet – Master the art of Hollywood glamour and beauty.

 

• Conceptual Make Up – Develop your own creative language through the use of mediums found outside your make-up kit, you will also learn how to develop sketch books, mood boards and face-charts.

 

• History of Make Up – Knowing how to reference iconic looks from the past and giving them a contemporary twist is a key skill for any make up artist, whether taken from Art, Fashion, movies or historic documentation.

 

• Photography & Lighting – Learn the effects of photographic lighting and how to alter your make up accordingly.

 

• Kit Building – An in-depth look at products and kit essentials needed to build your professional kit.

 

• Industry Start Up – You will gain knowledge on setting up as a self-employed make up artist, this will include creating your C.V, web-site and business cards. You will also learn how to search and apply for work and submit invoices.

Do I need previous experience?

​

You do not need any previous experience in make up to participate in any of our courses, all courses are designed with both beginner and intermediate in mind.
